Garden Retreat

Renovation is a particular kind of work. You are looking through the existing conditions to a house that does not exist yet, and then finding it inside the shell you already have.

This one was designed and built in house, and it grew. It started as a smaller scale project and expanded into one of the renovations we most often show prospective clients.

The kitchen was reimagined around a hidden walk-in pantry. The primary bath layout was reworked rather than refinished. The laundry received a custom cabinet package, and the outdoor space was taken back and rebuilt. Materials throughout were chosen to suit the way this client actually lives.

A good deal of the work went in below the finishes. Drainage and mechanical systems were improved across the property, work no one will ever compliment, and the reason the finishes above them will still look right for many years.

The fireplace was the last piece. We designed a custom mantle from inspiration photos the client brought us, and brought the original wood burning firebox back into service for the handful of cold nights a year that ask for it.
