Courtyard Estate

The plan here does two things at once. It opens up for common living and it closes down into private retreat, and the movement between the two is what makes the house comfortable to live in. We built it in the heart of Central Beach with Dingwall Architecture.

Ceilings do most of the talking. Cathedral vaults with custom beadwork over the main rooms. A barrel arch over the primary bed, a nod to old world craftsmanship, cut to match the custom window arches below it. Wood nickel joint ceilings in the dining room, which looks out on the landscape through full height custom windows.

The kitchen balances its colors carefully, with custom mosaic tile set against a hood we built and finished ourselves.

The air supply diffusers were made for this house and sit flush with the surfaces around them, so the mechanical system reads as part of the ceiling rather than an interruption to it.
