Riverfront Estate

A riverfront site asks more of a house than an inland one, and this Riomar home was engineered accordingly. Working with Dingwall Architecture, we built the second floor as an elevated concrete slab rather than a trussed floor system, and roofed it in Wallaba shingle, an ultra dense tropical hardwood that starts red brown and weathers to silver.

The cove and arch forms were drawn to custom dimensions with Dingwall and a custom form designer, then hand finished by our stucco craftsmen. Custom wood doors and details run throughout.

The living room is anchored by a book-matched slab fireplace wall, flanked by custom stained built-ins and set beneath custom stained beams. Getting the stain right took our paint crew through blend after blend until the finish matched what the designers had specified for each wood species.

Elsewhere the house carries tongue and groove stained wood ceilings, coffered ceilings, dimensional walls, a masonry fireplace with custom stucco detail, integrated lighting, a custom wood and metal range hood, and slot supply air diffusers set flush into the ceiling.
