John's Island·Remodel
An oceanfront John's Island condo with CNC milled cabinetry from our own shop and a custom beam layout returning character to the sunroom.
Almost every condo we are asked to renovate arrives with the same brief: raise the ceilings. It is the right instinct, and it has a cost. Take a condo ceiling up and you usually end up with a flat plane where there used to be at least some character.
This oceanfront John's Island condo was designed in house around that trade. We used specialty light fittings to buy back the height, which in turn bought back cabinet storage, then put the character back into the sunroom with a custom beam layout that does not fight the cleaner lines the new ceiling gives you.
Our cabinet shop built the custom pieces, including the CNC milled door fronts on the entertainment center. The primary flooring is a rich wood-look tile, chosen because it reads as wood and behaves the way a beach house floor has to behave with a family in it.
Space is at a premium in a condo, so every angle gets looked at. Where we can add a little form and function to a corner, we do.
